Will asthma homeopathic treatment bring relief for patients?
That seems like a tall claim, especially when conventional Western medicine says that asthma is essentially incurable and can only be 'managed' to allow the patient to lead as normal a life as possible. The fact is, there are major differences in the approaches taken by Western medical practice and asthma homeopathic treatments. One key difference lies in the definition of what is to be treated. Asthma occurs because of a multitude of factors and involves the body's immune system. The symptoms that appear in the lungs and airways are merely outward manifestations of these factors. Therefore, it stands to reason that treatments aimed at just relieving symptoms of the lungs and airways will at best provide only temporary relief. That is why conventional medicine that seeks to solve the problems of breathlessness, wheezing, choughs, etc is incomplete at best. The problem needs to be tackled at its root - the immune system level. This focus on the real causes of the disease is a significant reason why homeopathic approaches are said to succeed in many cases where conventional medical treatments fail to produce results. The asthma homeopathic treatment approach The fundamental approach in homeopathy is to evaluate the patient and the asthma problem as a whole and not just look at asthma symptoms. Of course, it also considers the details of the specific symptoms shown by the patient, the environmental factors and a lot more. The objective of asthma homeopathic treatment is to boost the body's own defense systems to maintain good health. Once the body's capacity for healing is enhanced, then the patient will no longer show adverse reactions to allergens which act as triggers for an asthma attack. The homeopathic approach does not look at asthma (or diseases in general) as isolated, compartmentalized problems. It considers the disease as the expression (in the lungs / airways, in this case) of a system problem / disturbance. Classical homeopathic treatment is basically constitutional treatment. The doctor studies each patient in-depth (including all symptoms.) Only after this detailed individual case study is done are remedies prescribed. As a result, there is no single 'magic pill' remedy that will cure all cases of asthma. The treatment is as individual as the patients himself. Dealing with an acute asthma attack using homeopathic treatment is also possible, provided a detailed study of the specific episode, symptoms, etc has been made. Again, it is said that if conventional drugs including bronchodilators or anti-allergens are used on a patient undergoing asthma homeopathic treatment, it does not negate the effect of the homeopathic intervention. In the best case scenario, when the patient is takes up asthma homeopathic treatment, not only do his symptoms come under control, his body's capacity to resist the disease goes up too. Those adverse reactions to allergens no longer occur and the patient can lead a life free of the threat of being suddenly unable to breathe.
