Check out these natural remedies for asthma used by many to find relief from symptoms

Some people have used natural remedies for asthma as a supplement to conventional drugs or sometimes, even as a replacement for them.

Fresh fruits and vegetables are said to help prevent asthma attacks. These include leafy vegetables, tomatoes, carrots and apples. Fresh fruits and veggies are anyway great for overall health, so it may be a good idea to include those in your diet, if you haven't already.

Omega fatty acids are thought to help the body avoid bouts of asthma. These fatty acids help control the levels of arachidonic acid in the body. The latter has been linked with higher incidence of asthma, especially in children.

A kind of fat, arachidonic acid apparently causes inflammations. Therefore, reducing the levels of this acid in the body may prevent or at least lessen the intensity of asthma attacks.

Omega fatty acids help the body do just that. Foods like borage and fish oil contain omega fatty acids and are therefore considered to be natural remedies for asthma.

Arachidonic acid is found if foods like meat, egg yolks and shellfish. Avoiding those kinds of foods is also probably a way to control the incidence of asthma.

In general, substances that have an anti-inflammatory effect are thought to be beneficial for asthma patients. This is because asthma symptoms arise due to inflammation and constriction of the airways, which makes normal breathing difficult or impossible.

Pineapple contains a chemical called bromelain, which apparently has anti-inflammatory properties. A shrub called butterbur contains chemicals that some believe are anti-inflammatory and help control muscle spasms. Hence these foods are believed to be among useful remedies for asthma.

Similarly, boswellia is another herb thought to block some of the substances that result in inflammatory reactions in the body.
